BLACKPINK has returned, giving BLINKS a taste of ‘Pink Venom.’
Before embarking on a nine-month world tour, the South Korean K-pop girl group released their first new song in nearly two years.
The girls debuted their track, which has its distinct flavor, with their signature brand of spunk, sassiness, and mischief. Lisa and Jennie steal the play with their epic rap duet, while Jisoo and Rose shine in their freedom by beating the high notes and contributing musical parts to the song.
“Because this is our long-awaited return… we wanted to convey our identity.” So we combined the words ‘Pink’ and ‘Venom,’ two contradictory words that will well remind you of us,” Jennie said at a media event.
YG Entertainment, the band’s management company, stated that the song’s music video, which also features traditional Korean tools, is the most costly it has ever produced.
Born Pink, the group’s new album, which will be released on September 16, presold more than 1.5 million copies in a week, YG said.
“Rather than breaking the record, we have prepared for the new song so that our fans and audiences can love it… (But) if we can break records, we would be extremely grateful,” Rose explained.
BLACKPINK will begin its world tour in October and perform in at least 26 cities through June, attracting 1.5 million fans.
Since their debut in South Korea in 2016, the foursome – Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa – have become a global phenomenon, working with stars such as Lady Gaga, Cardi B, and Dua Lipa.
Some of their songs, such as ‘Kill This Love,’ have received over a billion YouTube views, but members of the group have recently focused on solo releases.
In addition to performing the song on tour, the girls will perform it LIVE for the first time at the American Video Music Awards, where Lisa is nominated for an award for her solo track ‘La Lisa.’
