Warehouse is a commercial place for storing goods until it is packed and shipped to the customers. Warehouse Inventory Management deals with the storing of stock, record maintenance, assessment of physical damages and loss and quality assessment. The performance of any industry greatly relies upon proper management of warehouse inventory because if stock is orderly arranged it becomes easier for production, packing and shipping departments to pick and drop their orders for later processes.
Using Real Time Monitoring System:
The advent of technology has given industrial automation a new surge of growth. Real time system effectively facilitates to minimize the lacking of former warehouse management system.
Using real time monitoring we can manage warehouse from isolated control rooms. Anything present in warehouse can easily be tracked and amendments can be made without any chaos. Various technological developments such as internet of things Iot greatly help in maintaining a strong database and share it over internet for easy access and availability. If anything scarcity or shortage occurs it can be easily informed to departments handling production .while any need for maintenance and physical repairing can be detected much earlier and corrective measures can be suggested accordingly.
Systematic Design and Organization:
Large industries are expected to deliver orders very timely with accuracy and quality assurance. Warehouses and inventory plays a big role for keeping everything up to the mark and synchronized. We can observe in college libraries everything is organized very orderly whether by alphabetical patterns or by themes. Similarly, the main task for Warehouse Inventory Management is to ensure arranging all raw materials, finished products and import export items very systematically. This can be done either by designing warehouse indoor area in sections for each department or by assigning simple color codes to avoid interference and mishandling.
Having a Floor Map Available:
Sometimes things are placed in their right location but still we get confused and face difficulty in finding them, so it is very important to have a floor map available. Floor map has everything spotted in it so a person looking for certain item don’t need to rotate around whole inventory, he can just directly go to the desired place with the aid of floor maps. If any new trainee comes he can be easily guided to his destination without getting lost thus time is saved which can be utilized in further design and technical process.
Vertical Placement of Inventory Items:
For making things simpler and accessible vertical placement of inventory products is suggested. Because there is large amount of materials which require great area and space for its placement. Warehouse managers can take advantage by placing everything vertically so that a person standing at one spot can have a look of whole inventory quickly without moving long distance. Thus, picking things become very easier and time saving. Warehouse are usually located in outskirt areas of town so that large area can be brought for unharmed storage of goods.
Using Automation for Improved Accuracy:
Human errors and inefficiencies cannot be neglected in this era of technological revolution. Industrial automation is widely being implemented to get maximum quality products in shortest possible time. Warehouse Inventory Management should be managed automatically creating systematic availability of all the stock so that later processes can be performed effectively. Manual systems previously implemented created great menace and delayed outputs. Either by placing robotic arms or using conveyor belts effective management is possible.it helps in carrying products and storing them at right place without any risk of damage in the way.
Limiting Entry of Unauthorised People:
As we know “too many cooks spoil the broth”, so it is highly recommended to restrict entry of unauthorized people inside warehouse inventory. If anything is misplaced or lost, no one accepts the responsibility and only person managing the warehouse is held culprit for the loss. We often get confused when there is great rush and people are running all across our working area.so to keep organized and calm atmosphere only responsible and experienced person should be allowed to interfere in inventory department.
Cleanup After Finishing Task:
There should be perpetual counting of all the objects dispatched daily so that it is not burdened at the end of month. Employees are usually in great hurry and take their orders disturbing all the orientation of warehouse inventory.so it is not management’s task to clean every time someone displace their orders. Management should not work harder but rather act smarter by convincing each employ to cleanup before leaving.
Keeping Frequently Demanded Products Nearer:
Managing a Warehouse Inventory Management needs a lot of designing and orientation; it cannot be blindly followed as done during first time installation. We know which products are frequently demanded, so we can place them nearer and can be quickly accessed The object used frequently can easily loaded and refilled according to the demands making delivery faster without rushing here and there thus disturbing the whole warehouse.
